Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are goals set by the United Nations to end poverty, protect the Earth, create peace, and bring health to all people by 2030.
Students participating in our hackathon, OurPlanet.Rocks, are encouraged to build solutions in five key focus areas tied to the United Nations’ SDGs focused on protecting the Earth:
- Conservation and Resource Management (Goals 11, 12, 14, and 15)
- Waste Management (Goal 12)
- Sustainable City Growth (Goals 8, 9, 11, 12, and others)
- Clean Energy (Goals 7 and 11)
- Clean Water Access and Equity (Goals 3, 6, 10, 11, and 12)
However, we are still open to students submitting a broad range of solutions to combat climate change. If you are participating in our hackathon and have an idea outside these five focus areas, feel free to contact us:
